The whole world view changed, when humans saw the first glimpse of earth from space. A patch of abundance of life busy on earth in the midst of emptiness- the space.

Today we are overwhelmed with different ideas. Different versions by different people on the same concept. We don't really know what the truth is and before even we realize, we jump into making conclusions. The lack of decision-making ability has brought us more harm than ever.

Switching from channel to channel I see nothing but ted talks on restoration initiatives of climate change, politicians debating if climate change is actually a thing, the ''Blah Blah Blah'' speech of Greta. So many noises, many people talking about things that makes sense others not that much, noises and disturbances; can't really seem to focus on clear idea. Lately, even I've been questioning my passion to speak about this. Why is it so important. Why do I care? What do people around me think about this issue ? How much does it mean to them ?

This led me back to when I was just started my blogging, when I had so much confusion, so many unanswered questions. In this blog post I will try to narrow down some of the most common myths I had about climate change.

  1. Climate change is a long way until it is going to completely destroy us

I just had a flash second of remembrance on Dec 31st of 2011, just after Christmas I had sat down with my cousins to watch the movie ''2012''. The next day Jan 1st of 2012, we were so scared if the world would come to an end. Movie was excellent, but got a lot of criticism just because people were not yet ready for the end of the world. Looking back at the 12 year old me, the only advice I can give myself is be prepared for the worst at anytime.

With the ease and the comfort technology brought with time, people simply continue to ignore and really sit down, think this issue thoroughly. To map out slow consequences of the issue and what should be done at present to counteract. Time is one thing not play with, when it comes to climate change. We must think practically. The small actions we start today can amplify to bigger results.

It is just that we need to start somewhere.

2. People who know about the problem only can speak about the solution

We often rely on climate scientists and environmentalists to talk about this issue, bring the solutions and spread awareness and to save us. But the truth is, we all have equal responsibility because we all are facing the same problem. Why are the rains out of season? Why is it getting hotter day by day?

Fortunately, all the answers on the internet. Internet has made it possible for us to research and have a knowledge about our current statistical charts. It is also equally important that we gain this knowledge from reliable sources because the fake news is very common now. From these established sources all information is accessible to common man.

Social media platforms and campaigns have allowed a common man like you and me to spread the awareness. Its a good thing we don't need to worry about plagiarism when it comes to spreading awareness, because all we're trying to do is amplify the voice, make it louder, make it heard and make each one completely conscious of their actions.

Instagram, twitter, LinkedIn is a good place to start.

3. Underestimate growing trees over other solutions

Trees are the natural and most effective solution we have today. It not only sucks CO2 out of the air rather, it also replenishes the soil, providing habitat for the wildlife, medicine and shelter for humans, cools the environment. The list goes endless. It is the the most effective, natural and eco-friendly solution we have in hand.

Solution -plant more trees and plants in and around neighborhood, school, houses , airports, coffee shops, offices. Check out this airport in Singapore which is like an indoor forest.

4. We are trying to fix the problem instead of creating the solution

Let me give an example, suppose there is a landslide in an area, bureaucrats immediately rush to relocate the citizens of the area, clearing the mess instead of creating floating housing for the entire community. A permanent solution is much effective than just a quick-fix.

Same applies to climate change, we will benefit from long term solutions than short term goals. This is what we are also trying to achieve from the SDGs.

So it doesn't depend on how smart you are or how much knowledge we have about this issue. Anyone can read and gain the knowledge. It depends on each person's intellect. In the fight against climate change, the science was already proved 150 years back. It was first formally presented by the president of US 50 years ago. There is enough of proof that the change is happening.

All we need now is a committed struggle, awareness and conscious actions.
